Introduction

Access to clean drinking water is becoming more and more difficult. Desert are expanding, countries with little natural water resources suffer from disease and thus have great problems to develop. And even in so-called developed countries water resources are handled with little care and being polluted. Some countries even started importing water from neighbouring countries. The resource water is becoming more and more a tool of governmental and economic pressure and bears great potential of conflict.

The application Newworldwater is an invitation to users to explore and evaluate for themselves the current situation on water resources. It was created at the University of Applied Science in Kaiserslautern, Germany as a bachelor project. It was made with Ben Fry's and Casey Reas' open-source programming environment Processing 1.0 during the summer term of 2009. The accompanying thesis gives a general view on the development on the field of information and data visualization. It will be made available as soon as possible.

You can launch the application in your browser or download the application to your computer.

Newworldwater is personal/student project and has no affiliation with any organization other than the University of Applied Science Kaiserslautern, Germany.
